Defenseman Zach McKelvie Assigned to Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Zach McKelvie has been assigned by the Boston Bruins from the Providence Bruins of the AHL to the Royals. In other transactions announced today, the Royals (i) activated forward Tyler Brenner from the 3-Day Injured Reserve; and (ii) released forward Jeremiah Ketts from his ECHL contract. In other transactions previously completed, (i) forward Casey Haines was returned by the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL to the Royals; and (ii) the Royals released defenseman William Lacasse from his Amateur Tryout Agreement.

This marks the second trip to Reading for McKelvie, a first year pro from New Brighton, Minnesota. He scored a goal and registered five penalty minutes in three games in his first stint with the Royals in early February. In thirty-five games with the P-Bruins this season, McKelvie has two points (1g-1a) and thirty-nine penalty minutes. Brenner missed thirteen games after sustaining an injury on February 12. He has nine points (3g-6a) in seventeen games with the Royals. Ketts was signed on February 28. He played two games with the Royals and registered two penalty minutes. Haines was loaned to Norfolk on March 10 and played two games with the Admirals without registering any points or penalty minutes. Lacasse was signed to an ATO by the Royals on March 7 and played one game with the team without registering any points or penalty minutes.

The Royals return to action tonight (Wednesday, March 14, 2012 @ 7:05 pm) when the Florida Everblades visit the Sovereign Center. The Sovereign Center will offer $2.00 select draft beer tonight. Wednesday's game night broadcast will start at 6:35 pm with the Red Robin Gourmet Burger Pre-Game Warm-up Show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Reading.
