Defenseman Matt Finn Returned to 'Blades from Loan to Grand Rapids

ESTERO, Fla. - The Florida Everblades announced Thursday that defenseman Matt Finn has been returned to the team from loan after being released from his professional tryout with the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins.
Finn, 24, played eight games with the Everblades last season and started the 2018-19 regular season on loan to the Griffins, playing in four games and registering one goal.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Finn brings 162 games of professional experience to the 'Blades lineup. He has suited up in 73 AHL games and 89 ECHL games in four seasons as a pro, posting 19 points in the AHL and 50 points in the ECHL in that span. Finn recorded 32 points with the ECHL's Missouri Mavericks in 2016-17, his highest single-season point total so far in his career.
Prior to turning pro, Finn was drafted in the second round, 38th overall, by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2012 NHL Draft.
The 6-foot, 198-pound rearguard played four seasons of major junior hockey with the Ontario Hockey League's Guelph Storm from 2010-14. He served as an alternate captain for the Storm in his second season in 2011-12 and then captained the squad his final two seasons. Finn excelled offensively in his major junior career, tabbing 161 points in 228 career games.
Finn is the second player to be returned from loan to an AHL this week. Adam Gilmour was returned from loan to the Springfield Thunderbirds on Tuesday.
Finn and the Everblades play a home-and-home series this weekend against the Orlando Solar Bears, traveling to Orlando for a 7 p.m. matchup on Friday before returning home on Saturday for a 7 p.m. matchup at Hertz Arena.
