Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- Quakes starter Jayson Miller and Storm starter Corey Kluber exchanged zeroes for the first four innings of the game before Lake Elsinore broke the tie. With one out and the bases loaded in the 5th, Justin Baum lifted a fly ball to left for a sacrifice fly to give the Storm a 1-0 lead.

The lead would not hold up for long though as Clay Fuller blooped a double to center field, and with two outs and runners on first and third, Julio Perez singled on the infield to tie the game 1-1.

The Quakes defense let them down in the 6th as Julio Perez threw a ball into the stands allowing a run to score, and with a runner at third and one out, third baseman Carlos Colmenares air-mailed a throw home to try and cut a runner down at the plate to give Lake Elsinore a 3-1 lead.

Rancho added a run in the bottom of the 6th as Anthony Norman walked to lead off the inning, advanced to second on a ground out, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI ground out by Brian Walker to cut the Storm lead to 3-2.

Lake Elsinore then got two more runs in the 7th against Quakes reliever Eddie McKiernan on a two-out, two run single by Yefri Carvajal to give the Storm a 5-2 advantage.

The Storm would plate another run in the 8th on a solo home run by Justin Baum.

The Quakes answered with a run of their own in the 8th with two outs as Brian Walker doubled to left-center to score Efren Navarro to bring it to a 6-3 score.

Rancho scored a run in the 9th after Clay Fuller doubled to lead off the inning, went to third on a ground out and scored on another ground out by Matt Sweeney to bring the score to the eventual final of 6-4.

Rancho will take on High Desert in the first of a four game series starting Friday night. The Quakes will have left-hander Alexander Torres on the mound against right-hander JC Ramirez. Game time is scheduled for 7:35pm.
