February 8, 2003 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Harrisburg Heat News Release

Kansas City, MO - The Harrisburg Heat held the MISL's best offense to three goals and held League scoring leader Dino Delevski scoreless, defeating the Kansas City Comets 13-6 at Kemper Arena on Saturday night. With the team's second straight win, the Heat improves to 12-16 on the season. Kansas City falls to 12-14. Chris Damico is credited with the win in goal for Harrisburg, making 12 saves; the win makes Damico the 11th keeper in League history to record 100 career victories. Paolo Ceccarelli (12 saves) takes the loss. With the win, the Heat ends a nine-game losing streak against the Comets, dating back to December 1, 2001. Delevski was held scoreless for the first time this year, ending a 27-game scoring streak.

Genoni Martinez put the Heat up early, with a 3pg at 10:37. Kansas City's Nate Houser got the hosts on the board with a 2pg at 12:37, but Matt Tanzini responded for Harrisburg at 14:24 when he headed home a deflected Nikola Vignjevic shot. The Heat led 5-2 after one.

That lead became 7-2 at 3:56 of the second, when Mike Henning raced down the left wing and slid a 2pg through Ceccarelli's legs. The Comets drew within three at 11:14, when Jeff Davis' drive from the right corner deflected off Damico and into the net for a 2pg. Harrisburg's lead at the half was 7-4.

David Bascome put the Heat up 9-4 just 20 seconds into the third quarter with a two-point power play goal. The goal was also a personal milestone for the Heat veteran: with it, he became the 17th player in League history to hit 900 career points. Henning followed with his second deuce of the contest, making it 11-4 at 5:44. The Heat held that lead going into the fourth quarter.

Former Heater Nick Corneli nudged home a 2pg 57 seconds into the fourth and it was 11-6. Tanzini quickly came back for Harrisburg, however, hammering a 2pg from the right wing at 1:35 to make it 13-6. The Heat successfully employed high-pressure tactics as the clock wound down, consistently disrupting Kansas City's offensive rhythm and holding on for the 13-6 win.
