Force Falls To Baltimore

CLEVELAND, OHIO – The Cleveland Force played host to the Baltimore Blast in the fourth of a five game home stand. The Force was defeated by the Blast, 13-8 in a Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) game at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University.

With the loss, Cleveland fell to 12-14 overall and dropped its third straight game. With the win, Baltimore improved to 11-15 overall and 3-1 in the season series.

The Force opened the scoring (0-2) when John Ball scored an unassisted two-point goal at 4:48 of the first quarter. The Blast tied the game (2-2) when Lee Tschantret scored the goal off the cross from P.J. Wakefield at 7:42. Baltimore took its first lead of the game (2-4) when Wakefield scored a two-point rebound goal off the first shot and assist of Tarik Walker at 13:29.

Cleveland tied the game for the second time (4-4) when Giuliano Oliviero found the back of the net off the pass from Ball just 28 seconds into the second quarter. The Blast regained the lead (4-6) when Tschantret scored his second goal of the game off the second assist of the game for Wakefield at 4:56. Baltimore added to its lead (4-9) when Craig Scheer scored a three-point goal off the cross from Walker at 7:03. The Blast continued its scoring streak (4-11) when Danny Kelly scored a two-point penalty kick and power play goal at 10:07.

The Force snapped a 7-0 run by Baltimore and cut into the lead (6-11) when Chris Stathopoulos scored a two-point power play goal off the second assist of the game for Ball at 9:10 of the third quarter. Cleveland cut into the lead (8-11) when Braeden Cloutier scored his first two-point goal as a member of the Force off a Baltimore defender at 11:16.

The Blast sealed the game (8-13) when Giuliano Celenza scored a two-point goal off the pass from Walker at 10:55 of the final period.

Cleveland will next play host to the San Diego Sockers in a MISL game on Saturday, February 15th at the Convocation Center at CSU. Game time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and will be the fifth and final game of the home stand.
