Manchester, NH- On the Defender's first road trip of 2008, they opened up a four-game set against the still winless New Hampshire Fisher Cats as Connecticut rolled, 4-2.
The Defenders struck first as Adam Witter blasted his third home run of the season in the top of the first inning to bring home Travis Ishikawa and give Connecticut an early 2-0 lead.
New Hampshire got one back in the bottom of the first as Scott Campbell scored on an RBI single off the bat of Kyle Phillips to cut the lead in half, 2-1.
The Cats would tie things up in the bottom of the fourth on a passed ball that brought home Ryan Klosterman as the Defenders lost the lead for the first time against New Hampshire this season.
Connecticut would rally with two outs for the second time of the game in the top of the fifth as Carlos Sosa and Simon Klink hit back-to-back RBI singles to bring in Ishikawa and Witter as the Defenders reclaimed the lead, 4-2.
Connecticut's bullpen coupled with superior defense in the field helped the Defenders outlast the Fisher Cats on Thursday night, 4-2. Carlos Sosa went 4-for-4 on the night with an RBI as Steve Palazzolo earned his first win of the year. The Defenders handed Scott Richmond his second loss of 2008 as Connecticut moved to 4-0 versus the Cats this season.
The Defenders will face off against the winless Fisher Cats Friday night at 6:35pm and all the action can be heard locally on 1310 AM or on the web at ctdefenders.com.
