Defenders Announce 2009 Roster

NORWICH, CT- The San Francisco Giant today announced their 24-man roster for the Connecticut Defenders.
The roster includes a mix of returners as well as some fresh faces. The Giants have sent three of their Top 25 prospects (as rated by Baseball America) which include: right handed pitchers Waldis Joaquin (#11) and Henry Sosa (#13) along with catcher Jackson Williams (#16).
The Defenders will host their Annual Pre-season Fan Fest tomorrow at Dodd Stadium at 5:30pm. This rain or shine event gives fans their first chance to meet the 2009 club as well as an opportunity to collect autographs and view practice.
The team starts out the season this Thursday on a seven day road-trip with stops in Portland and New Hampshire. Fans can catch all the action all season long by tuning into the Defenders Radio Network on their flagship station WICH 1310AM Norwich.
