Lowell Spinners News Release

LOWELL, MA - Going into Monday night's game, the Lowell Spinners (20-9), proud affiliate of the 2018 World Champion Boston Red Sox, were looking to extend their home winning streak to 27 days.

Unfortunately, the Auburn Doubledays (14-16) played spoiler in the final game of the three game set thanks to a four-run seventh inning - defeating Lowell 4-3 at LeLacheur Park.

The Spinners got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning when Nick Decker launched his third home run of the season over the scoreboard in right field, giving his guys an early 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Decker continued his hot hitting and launched the ball over the right field fence for his second home run of the night, and fourth of the season. This one went an estimated 340 feet and gave Lowell a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Jaxx Groshans led the inning off with a triple off a long fly ball that clanked off the right field wall and kicked back towards the infield. Stephen Scott took the first pitch for a ball and followed it up with single through the hole on the right side, scoring Groshans from third base and giving the Spinners a 3-0 lead.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Doubledays got on the board on a single by Jack Dunn that scored Jose Sanchez from third base, cutting Lowell's lead to 3-1. Auburn took a 4-3 lead when Eric Senior launched a fastball from Hildemaro Requena over the left field wall for a three-run home run that cleared the left field scoreboard.

Following a rare off-day on Tuesday, the Spinners are back in action on Wednesday night when they take on the Tri-City ValleyCats on the road. First pitch is at 7:00 p.m. Lowell is back home on Saturday night for NASCAR Night: a night that features an appearance by driver David Ragan.

The first 1,000 fans to enter the ballpark will also receive a free Oyo car, presented by Oyo Sports.
