Roanoke Dazzle News Release

ROANOKE, Va., Nov. 16 - Anthony Grundy scored a game high 30 points to lead the Roanoke Dazzle to a 116-115 OT win in a NBA Development League preseason game at the Roanoke Civic Center.

With the Dazzle trailing by double-digits heading into the 4th quarter, Grundy led a furious rally, scoring 10 points in the quarter and eventually giving the Dazzle a lead with a minute left in regulation.

The game looked to be in hand with the Dazzle holding a 3 point lead with 8 seconds left in regulation, but after some missed free throws, a clutch 3-point shot by Patriot guard Carlos Hurt tied the game up as time expired, sending it to overtime.

The Dazzle took control in the overtime stanza, being led by Grundy who scored 4 points in the period and P.J. Ramos who altered and blocked numerous shots in the final minute of overtime.

"There were some really good plays made and there were some really bad plays made. Most of the bad plays were the turnovers and missed free throws that could have iced the game" said Dazzle Head Coach Kent Davison. "That's why you play the games. In practice you can look pretty good doing those things. The good part is we still won."

The overtime period gave both teams the opportunity to get a better look at what they have heading into the regular season. Both teams will final roster will be set on Friday Friday, November 18, with some tough decision coming on who will make the final cut.

Patriots Head Coach Mike Brown was happy to have the game go to overtime saying, "It gave me a chance to see a couple more things from the guys. It's important to see the young guys still on that bubble trying to make the team perform in different situations."

Grundy was joined in double figure scoring on the Dazzle by Seth Doliboa with 16, Ramos with 14, Jason Clark with 13 and Andreas Glyniadakis with 10.

The Patriots were led by Roderick Riley who scored 21 points, Erik Daniels who chipped in with 15, former Dazzle player Mike King with 14, Hurt with 13 and Mark Karcher with 10.

The Dazzle tips-off the regular season this Friday, November 18 when the Fort Worth Flyers visit the Roanoke Civic Center in Roanoke, Va. While Fayetteville opens the season against those same Fort Worth Flyers, Saturday at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, N.C.
