Daytona Tortugas News Release
Thursday evening at Melching Field at Conrad Park in DeLand, the Daytona Cubs set an all-time attendance record! The old mark of 105,606 that was set back in 2001, when Big Game Capital took over ownership of the team, has been eclipsed with a new mark of 106,198. The new mark was set in six less games than it took back in 2001 and the Cubs still have eight home games remaining this season.
"This is just the beginning for Daytona Cubs attendance records over the next couple of years," said Cubs Director of Ticket Operations Erik Malvik. "With major renovations to the ballpark over the next three seasons and with the creation of a ticket department next season, we plan on eclipsing this years mark with no problem in 2005."
