Daytona Tortugas News Release
At the Daytona Cubs press conference Tuesday morning the club announced several exciting changes and improvements to the organization for the upcoming 2004 season.
The first announcement was that the Daytona Cubs and WELE AM 1380 have reached an agreement to have WELE be the official radio station of all 140 Cubs radio broadcasts. This marks the first time under the ownership group of Big Game Capital, that the Daytona Cubs will have radio broadcasts for all home and away games.
As well as broadcasting the Cubs 140 game schedule, WELE will also broadcast the Cubs Thursday Pre-Game show and Sunday Post-Game shows from remote locations around the Greater Daytona Beach area.
**The Cubs also announced the hiring of Bo Fulginiti as the Manager of Broadcast Operations. Fulginiti will be the radio voice of the Cubs for all 140 games as well as the sole voice of the Cubs during their 70 road games. Kyle Bushn, the Cubs current Director of Media Relations, will handle all play-by-play duties for Daytona Cubs home games.
Fulginiti previously worked with ESPN Regional Television covering the Big Ten conference in football and worked last season with the Savannah Sand Gnats of the South Atlantic League.
***The Daytona Cubs also announced a three-year agreement that has been reached with the Coca-Cola Bottling Company to extend through the Cubs 2006 season. Coca-Cola will remain the Official Soft Drink of the Daytona Cubs and Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
Coca-Cola representatives were on hand for Tuesday's press conference and are excited about the ongoing partnership. "Coca-Cola has been a partner of the Daytona Cubs since their current ownership took over in 2001," said Coca-Cola Cold Drink Manager Robert Gillespie. "The value of our sponsorship package with the Cubs has exceeded any of our expectations and we will continue to use the Cubs as one of our top marketing avenues."
