Dayton holds on for 5-4 win against Danville

Danville, IL - The Dayton Demonz survived a determined comeback attempt by the Danville Dashers on the way to a 5-4 win.

Dayton took a 5-2 lead during the third period, only to have Danville storm back on a Darick Ste Marie goal 15:39 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Demonz were sparked by Nicholas Petriello, who finished with one goal and one assist. Petriello scored 8:37 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Dayton. Marcus Pryde provided the assist.

Dayton failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 29 pucks on goal after averaging 39.1 shots per game this season.

Dayton also got points from Seth Ronsberg, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Luke Flicek, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Dayton also got a goal from Lucas Schott as well. Other players who recorded assists for Dayton were Brayden Metz, Jesse Felten, and Mike Hoban, who each chipped in one.

The Dashers put 51 shots on net during the contest, more than the 41.3 they average per game.

Danville additionally got points from Ryan Stern, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Shawn McNulty also scored for Danville. In addition, Danville received assists from Dustin Skinner, who had two and Justin Levac, Jonathan Juliano, and Ryan Huggett, who contributed one a piece.

Gerry Festa recorded 47 saves for the Demonz. Dayton totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Danville's Josselin St Pierre stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Dashers totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 2-for-2 on the power play.
