Dayton Gems News Release
As the inaugural season draws to a close there are still Gems games and events to attend. The team is already looking forward to next season. Season tickets are on sale, there are opportunities to become a team investor or partner, and still time to become a booster.
Current season ticket holders are invited to attend a meeting prior to the April 10th game beginning at 6:30pm. The owners and staff will be available to listen to your input and comments regarding the 2009 - 2010 season. Please RSVP no later than Monday, April 5th.
Wednesday, April 7th at 7pm when the Gems meet the Quad City Mallards at Hara Arena it's another exciting evening of hockey and $1 beers. Are you still playing hockey? The Gems welcome the folks that still hit the ice and slap that puck. Adult leagues are welcome to join us and fund raising opportunities are available. After the game head to the Holiday Inn Englewood. Humpty's is the place to be and your ticket stub will allow you to enjoy $2 beers. Players will be there to chat.
On April 10th the Gems meet the Fort Wayne Komets at Hara Arena for a 730pm face off . Immediately following the game, an auction will be held where you can bid on your favorite players' away jersey. The team will autograph the jerseys and they will be available for pick up after the final game on April 16th. The Dayton Blue Hawks will be joining us for an evening to salute their success during their tournaments. For Blue Hawk information contact Chuck Groh: chuck.groh@beckerelectric.com
Join the Gems as they play the final game of their inaugural season.
Fan appreciation night will be held on April 16th at Hara Arena. The team will play the Muskegon Lumberjacks and the first 1000 fans will receive the final set of trading cards. It's Frothy Friday so it's a night with bargain $2 drafts.
Immediately following the game an auction of the players home jerseys will be held where you can take home favorite players' jersey.
The Gems had the pleasure of teaching local media character Ken-Yon Hardy of Activedayton.com and WB26 How To Fight Hockey Style. If you didn't get a chance to see it on the WB's morning show here is the link to see it yourself.

Everyone's favorite mascot, Blade the white tiger won't be taking the summer off. Blade is available for appearances simply by contacting the Gems office. This Saturday he will be giving the Easter Bunny a hand (or rather a paw) at the Helping Hands Community Egg Hunt. Helping Hands is a non-profit organization geared towards helping homeowners of the area save their homes. The Hunt begins at 2pm at 5499 West 3rd Street.
On Saturday, April 24th join Blade at Carillon Park for the March of Dimes Walk beginning at 9:30am.
The March of Dimes - March for Babies will support programs in your community that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies and to fund research. Sign up at: http://www.marchforbabies.org/why.aspx and you can walk with Blade.
Then May 1st head to Fifth third Plaza for the Derby Day Dash. There will be family events and a 5k run sponsored by Life Essentials to benefit the elderly of Montgomery County who need assistance maintaining independence and assuring the rights of those no longer able to make daily living and medical-care decisions. Join Blade at 9am for all the fun and festivities for a worthy cause.
