Mike Kinnie started the first period Port Huron onslaught by pouncing on a loose puck at the 5:42 mark. Just one minute and 11 seconds later Mickael Bedard's tip-in stretched the Icehawk lead to 2-0 and brought about the replacement of Mallards starting goaltender Jerad Kaufmann with Kyle Jones.

At 15:43 of the second period the margin would expand to 5-0 when Bryan Nathe's shot from the right point was deflected home by Kerry Bowman.
Nick Lindberg finished off a 2-on-1 rush to cap off the win for the Icehawks at 12:39 of the third period.
