
Dayton Gems Crush The Flint Generals 5-1

Dayton Gems News Release
During a very physical 1st period it was Gems Sam Bloom with the help of Bryan Nathe and Mike Vaskivuo that scored in the first 3 minutes of the game. Then with only 36 seconds left Mike Vaskivuo pushed the lead to Gems up 2 to nothing with the aid of the newest addition to the team, Matt Szypura. The Gems got back to the net in the 2nd period when Mike Vaskivuo scored for the 2nd time assisted by Sam Bloom and Bryan Nathe and then halfway through the period Jon Ornelas took the Gems lead to 4 with the help of Sam Bloom with only 5:10 left Flint got on the board ending the period with Gems 4 - Generals 1. In the 3rd Dayton's Corey Couturier assisted by John Snowden and Joe Van Culin made the final goal of the evening to make the final score 5:1. Dayton's standings are now 12/11/3/1.
The Gems hit the road Sunday to play the Port Huron Icehawks. Their next home game is Wednesday, December 30th at 7pm at Hara. It'll be ring in the New Year so bring your jingle bells and cow bells to help the Gems defeat the Fort Wayne Komets.
