Dayton Dutch Lions News Release
Dayton, OH, June 13 2014 - The Dayton Dutch Lions FC has added Defender Osman Mendez and Goalkeeper Scott Krotee to their USL PRO roster.
Mendez played and started 30 games at Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas. The central defender scored 3 goals and had 1 assist in his two years playing for the Warriors. Mendez anchored a defense that earned 7 shutouts in two seasons. During his senior year at Sterling, Osman garnered a 2nd Team All-Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference award along with one KCAC Player of the Week award. "It's a dream of mine to play professionally and I am very excited to compete and train with the Dayton Dutch Lions FC and be part of this organization," Mendez reacted to the signing of his first professional contract.
Krotee, a graduate from Garner Webb University where he was the team captain and registered the schools lowest career goals against average (1.39) and lowest single season goals against average (1.1), also signed his first professional contract, after representing PDL side Reading United for the last two seasons. "I'm very humbled by the opportunity and I am excited to join the squad." said Krotee. "I look forward to arriving in Dayton and I'm ready to work hard for this organization."
Head Coach Sid van Druenen had the following to say about the two new signings, "Both Osman and Scott will bring extra options to a back line that has been struggling this year. We've not only had some injuries to deal with but also some irregularities with the guys playing there and hopefully now we can bring some consistency in our back 5."
