Jupiter Hammerheads News Release
JUPITER, FL-What a difference a night made for the Jupiter Hammerheads. Just 24 hours after a rough loss to St. Lucie, Jupiter had a bounced back with a 9-2 win over Bradenton on Friday night.
The nine run offensive attack was fueled by Terrence Dayleg who continues to have a scorching start to his 2014 campaign. Dayleg went 4-for-5 in the ballgame boosting his average to an even .500 on the season. He also drove in a pair of runs and scored twice.
Frankie Reed picked up the win for Jupiter after tossing three no-hit innings out of the bullpen.
Not to be forgotten was starter Jake Esch who came just a strike away from earning the victory. Esch walked the final batter he faced on a 3-2 count in the fifth inning before he was pulled from the game by manager Brian Schneider. Esch allowed just one earned run and struck out five but he also walked five in the game.
After the Marauders took a 2-0 lead in the first frame, the Hammerheads started their comeback in the second. After Viosergy Rosa and Matt Juengel reached on back-to-back singles, Josh Adams drove them both home when he slapped a triple into the right field corner to knot the game at two.
In the third Jupiter would take the lead for good. The rally was started with Dayleg who reached on a two-out single. After Rosa was hit with a pitch, Juengel hit a blooper into shallow right field that dropped into no man's land as the Hammerheads took the lead.
Angel Morales would add to the lead when he pulled a double to right to plate Rosa and make it 4-2.
The Hammerheads would pick up three more in the fourth, two runs on Bradenton errors and a third when Dayleg reached on an infield single.
Jupiter added to the lead in the eighth when Dayleg's fourth hit plated Cameron Flynn and when the third Bradenton miscue of the night allowed Dayleg to score his second run.
The Hammerheads and Marauders will continue their series on Saturday night. First pitch of the middle game of the series is at 6:35 p.m.
