
Day 2 at ICE Training Camp Presented by Hilton Garden Inn Winnipeg South

After going through fitness testing, off ice presentations and practices yesterday, it was game time today inside the RINK Training Centre as 32 prospects played a pair of scrimmages.
In the opening game, Peter Magnus, a 15 year old from Winnipeg, scored the game winning goal with four seconds remaining in regulation time to give Team Krebs a 4-3 win over Team Stoll. Ashton Cumby, Hayden Pakkala and Ty Fraser also scored, while Brayden Edwards, Darik Feasey and Aiden Oiring found the back of the net in the losing effort.
Pakkala, with his second goal of the day, and a pair from Kyle Grysiuk lead Team Krebs to their second straight win, 7-2 in the matinee. Evan Friesen, Ryder Ringor, Josh Mettimano and Jayden Michaels rounded out the scoring. Team Stoll goals came from Darik Feasey and Aiden Oiring.
The prospects will play their final scrimmage Friday morning at 10:00 before ICE veterans join camp. Following the morning game, management will make roster decisions on the prospects as to who will advance with the veterans to start Main Camp in the afternoon.
A reminder Training Camp is closed to the public. Only parents / guardians and media will be permitted to attend as approved spectators until Sunday, September 5th. All approved spectators during training camp will adhere to the protocols implemented by the RINK Training Centre at that time. All WHL Players and Staff are adhering to the WHL Vaccination Policy.
The General Public Is invited to a FREE Pancake Breakfast starting at 9:30am followed by the ICE Training Camp Showcase Game presented by Hilton Garden Inn Winnipeg South Monday, September 6th at 10:30AM. This game will feature a number of returning players including former 1st and 2nd overall picks from the WHL Prospects Draft Matt Savoie and Conor Geekie.
Fans who present their proof of full vaccination are welcome to watch the training camp showcase game. Children under 12 years of age will be permitted to attend provided they attend with a fully vaccinated adult from the same household. Masks will be mandatory for spectators.
Donations to the Winnipeg ICE Education Fund will be accepted at the door upon entry. All donations go towards the post secondary education of current and former Winnipeg ICE players.
