
Dawgs split double header

Wachusett Dirt Dawgs News Release
LEOMINSTER, Mass - The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs and the Torrington Titans split a double header on Saturday night. The Dirt Dawgs took the first game by a score of 2-1 and the Titans prevailed in the second, 9-2, in two shortened seven inning games.
Mike Corin (Rhode Island) hit a two run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift the Dirt Dawgs the win in game one. He had one of the four Dirt Dawgs hits in the game. Mike Lundin (Franklin Pierce) had another stellar outing throwing seven innings, only allowing four hits, and one run while striking out five.
The Titans only had four hits in the first game as well. They scored their only run in the first inning off a Langston Calhoun (Bryan) single. Jose Rodon (Limestone College) pitched six innings only giving up four hits and two runs. He also struck out five batters.
The Dirt Dawgs offense struggled in game two. Corin went 2-3 at the plate with two singles. Corin also scored both of the Dirt Dawgs runs. The only Dirt Dawgs RBI was courtesy of Sam Goodwin-Boyd (Wesleyan).
The Titans offense was led by Taylor Olmstead (UConn) who had two home runs and a triple. Olmstead also had five RBIs in the game. Mike Odenwaeder (Amherst) added two hits in the game. Odenwaeder also scored two runs and stole two bases.
The Dirt Dawgs will travel to face the Worcester Bravehearts in the fifth installment of the I-190 rivalry with a 2:05 PM first pitch. The next Dirt Dawgs home game will be on Thursday, July 31 when they host the Bravehearts at 6:35.
