
Davis Joins Ducks

(Central Islip, N.Y., March 25, 2015) - The three-time Atlantic League champion Long Island Ducks today announced the signing of former Major Leaguer Blake Davis. The infielder begins his first season with the Ducks and in the Atlantic League.
"Blake is a versatile player that brings a great deal of experience to our ballclub," says Ducks President/GM Michael Pfaff. "We are happy to bring him aboard as we continue to build our roster for the 2015 season."
Davis appeared in 25 Major League games with the Baltimore Orioles during the 2011 campaign. He collected 15 hits in 59 at-bats (.254 batting average) with six RBI, six runs scored and three doubles. His first Major League hit was a two-run triple off of then-Cincinnati Reds pitcher Edinson Volquez, and his first home run was a three-run blast against then-Detroit Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer.
The 31-year-old has played nine seasons of professional baseball, spending time with the Orioles, Milwaukee Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates organizations. He was a member of the Indianapolis Indians (AAA, Pirates) during the 2014 season and batted .245 with one homer, 23 RBI, 11 runs, 10 doubles and two triples in 85 games. The California native has a career minor league batting average of .262 with 28 homers, 274 RBI, 128 doubles and 30 triples in 817 games. An alum of California State University - Fullerton, Davis was originally drafted by the Orioles in the fourth round of the 2006 amateur draft.
