Winston-Salem, NC----The Potomac Nationals (22-21) were swept in their three-game set with the Winston-Salem Dash (21-21) after the hosting club won by the score of 7-3 on Sunday afternoon at BB&T Ballpark as the Dash plated runs in six of their eight offensive frames to win their 13th consecutive home game against Potomac since the start of the 2012 Carolina League season.
Winston-Salem RHP Myles Jaye (2-0) got the victory after turning in a quality start over 6.0 innings in which he allowed three earned runs on five hits while walking four and striking out six batters. Jaye surrendered one home run to LF Caleb Ramsey, his third longball of the campaign, who went 4-for-4 at the plate to become the first P-Nats swinger with a four-hit contest.
Potomac RHP Rob Gilliam (0-1), after beginning the season on the disabled list, took the loss in his second start of the season after giving up five earned runs on seven base hits over 3.2 innings.
Dash LF Grant Buckner swatted an RBI double off the wall in center field in the 1st inning before Ramsey tied the game in the 2nd frame on his third dinger of the season over the right field wall, a solo shot.
Winston-Salem answered with one run in the 2nd inning as 1B Rangel Ravelo tagged a one hopper to 3B Cutter Dykstra that drove in a run and was ruled a fielding error and an RBI for Ravelo.
The Dash summoned home their third run in the 3rd inning on a no doubt solo home run blast that left the yard out to left field in mere seconds off the lumber of DH Jeremy Farrell, his sixth deep fly of the season.
The P-Nats produced two runs in the 4th frame on a bases loaded two-run single ripped to center field by 1B Francisco Soriano. On that play C Cole Leonida was cut down after a run-down 8-3-5-4-5.
The Dash responded with two runs in the bottom of the 4th on a two-RBI double lined into the left center field gap by 2B Joey DeMichele and the home club tacked on another run in the 5th when Ravelo belted an RBI double to the gap in right center field.
The last Winston-Salem run was sent home in the 7th stanza via a Ravelo RBI single served into center field. Ravelo led all swingers with three runs batted in.
Winston-Salem RHP Cody Winiarski dealt 2.0 scoreless innings out of the Dash bullpen to close out the Game Three finale and seal the sweep of Potomac.
After an off-day Monday, Potomac will face off with their regional rival Frederick Keys (Baltimore Orioles) on Tuesday night at Harry Grove Stadium in Frederick, MD. First pitch is slated for 7:00pm.
The Potomac Nationals Baseball Network will get underway with the P-Nats Pre-game Leadoff Show before the live play-by-play. Broadcast coverage of P-Nats Baseball is accessible by heading to www.potomacnationals.com.
