Houston Dash News Release
The Houston Dash are set to begin preseason camp on Feb. 1 ahead of the 2021 Challenge Cup starting on April 9, the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) announced today. The league also announced May 15 as the start date for the 24-game regular season that will also be played in home markets.
The full medical protocols from the league can be found here.
The Dash will report to camp at the Houston Sports Park on Feb. 1 to prepare for the 2021 Challenge Cup. During the inaugural Challenge Cup last year, the Dash won the first league title in team history when they brought the Challenge Cup home to Houston after defeating Chicago Red Stars 2-0 on July, 26, 2020. Later that year, the team capped off the year by earning $15,000 in grant money for NAACP Houston after a stellar performance throughout the 2020 Verizon Community Shield, scoring a total of 12 goals against North Carolina Courage and Orlando, the highest scoring total in a four-game span in club history.
Following the Challenge Cup, the NWSL's 10 teams will face off in a 24-game regular season beginning May 15, 2021. The league will not break for the 2021 Olympic Games and the regular season will conclude on Oct. 30, 2021. Full details on the Challenge Cup format and the complete regular season schedule will be released at a later date.
