
Darcy Kuemper Reassigned to Orlando, Aeros Sign Goalie John Curry

Houston, TX - Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill announced on Friday that goalie Darcy Kuemper has been reassigned by the National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild to the Orlando Solar Bears, the Aeros ECHL affiliate. Mill also announced the team has signed goalie John Curry to a PTO (professional tryout agreement).
Kuemper has made five appearances for the Aeros this season, going 3-2-0 with a 2.56 goals against average and a .898 save percentage. He also posted the team's first shutout of the season with 33 saves against Milwaukee at home on Oct. 27. The 22-year old netminder was drafted by Minnesota in the sixth round (#161 overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He played in eight games for the ECHL's Ontario Reign in 2011-12, going 7-2-0 with a 1.74 goals against average and a .941 save percentage.
Curry has made 14 appearances for Orlando this season, going 7-5-2-0. The 28-year old posted a 2.82 goals against average and a .907 save percentage with the Solar Bears. The sixth-year pro has made 177 AHL appearances, going 103-59-6 with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton from 2007-11. He produced a 2.49 goals against average and a .907 save percentage in the AHL. The Shorewood, MN native played in Hamburg of the DEL last season, going 22-20-0 with a 2.73 goals against average and a .917 save percentage.
Prior to returning to home ice, the Aeros will play in San Antonio on Friday, Nov. 23 at 7:30 p.m. Houston will host the Abbotsford Heat on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 5:05 p.m. This season every Sunday is a Family Day, where families can purchase a package with parking, four tickets and four Aeros gifts, starting at $54.
