Danville Otterbots News Release

Danville, VA-The D-Braves got the starting pitching, relief pitching, and hitting they needed to even up their record at 17-17 on Monday night. The Braves scored seven runs on 13 hits against the Pulaski Mariners who lost 7-3. Chase Larsson and Brandon Drury led the charge with two RBIs each.

Danville started to punish Pulaski starter, Dylan Unsworth, right off the bat tonight. Elmer Reyes and Nick Ahmed led off the bottom half of the first inning with a single and a double respectively. Brandon Drury, the third batter, singled right back up the middle scoring both runners. Later in the inning with runners at first and second and one out, Edison Sanchez doubled down the left field line to score Drury and the Braves held a 3-0 lead.

The D-Braves added two more in the third inning off of Unsworth. Billy Beckwith doubled for his eighth time this year to advance Drury to third who had reached on a single. Chase Larsson doubled down the left field line to score Beckwith and Drury. The Braves had a commanding 5-0 lead.

In the top of the sixth inning, Danville starter, Ernesto Silva, ran into some trouble. Back-to-back singles and then a Dan Paolini double scored a run and Silva's night was over. He would be replaced by Ryne Harper who got out of the inning, but not before allowing an RBI groundout to Ken Straus. Silva was charged with both runs on the night, he allowed seven hits in five plus innings of work. He struck out four and collected his third win of 2011.

The Braves scored again in the sixth and seventh innings, scoring one run in each. Sam Munson grounded out to score Nick De Santiago in the sixth. Then in the seventh, Ahmed hit his second double of the night. While at second, the Pulaski pitcher, Bobby Shore, tried to pick off Ahmed but his throw was missed by Dillon Hazlett. With Ahmed at third, Brandon Drury struck out looking and then Jose Rodriguez tried to pick off Ahmed again. Rodriguez's throw was straight into the ground and into left field allowing Ahmed to score the seventh Danville run of the night.

Harper pitched two innings in relief; he allowed one hit and struck out three batters. Jarrett Miller pitched a solid eighth inning when he struck out two of the four batters he faced. Joe Lucas finished off the game in the ninth inning. Lucas allowed one run on one hit, but it was unearned due to a misplayed ball by third baseman, Brandon Drury.

Dylan Unsworth earned his second loss of the season. He went five and two-thirds innings. In that time he gave up six earned runs on a 12 hits and struck out five. Drury and Larsson both finished the night 2-for-4 with two runs batted in.
