Syracuse, NY - Chris Higgins scored with just 1:13 remaining in overtime to give the Hamilton Bulldogs a 3-2 win over the Syracuse Crunch at Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter on Saturday evening.

Recently signed defenceman Dan Focht picked up his first Bulldogs point with the lone assist on the Morgan's goal.

Syracuse's Mark Hartigan evened the score at 8:18 of the first period on the power play, when he took a rebound and shoveled it into the Bulldogs goal. Veterans Brad Moran and Jamie Pushor earned assists on the play.

Bulldogs goaltender Yann Danis made 21 saves in the opening period.

Rookie forward Corey Locke made it 2-1 for the Bulldogs in the second period as he swatted the puck out of mid-air and past Crunch goaltender Karl Goehring. The power play goal was scored at 13:38 with assists going to Marc-Andre Thinel and Duncan Milroy.

Despite being out shot 33 to 11, the Bulldogs held a 2-1 lead after two periods of play.

The Crunch would even the score once again at 7:22 of the third period as Joe Motzko scored a shorthanded goal. Mike Pandolfo and Andre Lakos had assists on the goal.

For the fourth game this season the Bulldogs needed overtime to decide the score. Higgins earned his second goal of the season at the 3:47 mark of overtime. Thinel earned his second assist of the night on the game-winner

The Bulldogs record in overtime now stands at two wins and two losses. Hamilton has not been involved in a shootout yet this season.
