Tacoma Rainiers News Release
TACOMA, Wash. - Tacoma Rainiers infielder Daniel Vogelbach has been selected as the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week for May 7-13, the league announced this morning.
Vogelbach logged eight games with the Rainiers during the week and hit .429 (12x28) with nine runs scored, four doubles, five home runs, and eight RBI. Across that stretch, he posted a .543 on-base percentage and a 1.107 slugging percentage.
From May 7-13, Vogelbach ranked first or tied for first in the PCL in runs scored (9), home runs (5), and extra-base hits (9). His five home runs were tied for the most among all Minor League Baseball players, while his 1.107 slugging percentage was second best in MiLB.
The 25-year-old first baseman hammered three home runs during Sunday's doubleheader against the Sacramento River Cats - including a game-tying two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning of game two - and has hit five home runs over his last five games.
Since being optioned from Seattle on April 27, Vogelbach has played in 18 games with Tacoma and hit .328 (21x64) with 13 runs, five doubles, eight home runs, 14 RBI, and 16 walks.
Tacoma's last Player of the Week award winner was infielder Taylor Motter, who earned the honors August 14-20, 2017 after hitting .700 (14x20) over a five-game stretch.
