Danger to Take on Nighthawks Saturday

Nebraska Danger News Release

GRAND ISLAND, NE - The Nebraska Danger are looking to lock up home field advantage for the Intense Conference Championship game this weekend against the Wichita Falls Nighthawks. If the Danger win one of their final two regular season games or if the Tri-Cities Fever lose one of their final two games, the Danger will host the conference championship.

The Danger are looking to get back to championship form after falling to the Colorado Ice 53-36 last week in Fort Collins. The Danger did not have Jameel Sewell at quarterback due to injury, and were only able to amass 154 yards of total offense.

The defensive and special teams units were able to keep the game close for the Danger by racking up points on a fumble return for a touchdown by newcomer Tre Walker, a safety, and a 50 yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Waymon James.

The Danger were able to grab the lead 29-25 with nine minutes to go in the third quarter, but a late charge by the Ice was too much for the Danger to overcome.

"We did not play up to our standards at all tonight," said Danger coach Mike Davis. "We have a lot of things to work on this week, but we should have Sewell back for our next game. He could have played if our back-up got hurt, but he wanted to take this week to heal up for the rest of the season and the playoffs."

Before the playoffs get here, the Nighthawks will visit Grand Island looking to grab a fifth win during their inaugural season. Two of their wins this season have been against the team the Danger just lost to - the Colorado Ice.

Kickoff is set for 7 pm on Saturday night at the Heartland Events Center. Doors open at 6:00 with pre-game activities beginning at 6:30.

Tickets for Saturday night are available at area Pump & Pantry stores, the Heartland Events Center Box Office, or via Ticketmaster. The game will be broadcast live on 2DayFM 103.1, or streamed live at www.2dayfm1031.com Following the game, an autograph party with Players and Coaches will take place on the Danger turf.
