Rockford, IL- Just like he did after last season, Rockford Lightning Head Coach Chris Daleo will be returning to the Portsmouth Invitational Scouting Combine. The combine will be held from April 6-9 at Churchland High School in Portsmouth, VA, where 64 of the top college seniors are invited to showcase their skills. This is the 53rd consecutive year of the combine, and over 200 NBA representatives will be in attendance along with Coach Daleo.

"I feel that this year is going to be extremely competitive in the CBA. I feel that it would be an injustice to the Lightning organization if I did not pursue every avenue in search of talented players," quoted Daleo.

The seniors that are invited to attend the combine in Portsmouth hope to play well and then receive an invitation to attend the next scouting combine. The next combine will be at the Moody Bible Institue of Chicago in June. These players feel that if they play well, their stock will rise and their dreams of being drafted in the NBA will come true.

Players from the CBA who have attended the Portsmouth Invitational in the past are former Lightning player Tom Coverdale, former CBA MVP and current Philadelphia 76er Josh Davis, David Bailey of the 2005 CBA Champion Sioux Falls Skyforce, and Gary's David Graves.

"I have to win in 2005-06 and I need a talented rookie to do that. Hopefully I can find him in Portsmouth," Daleo says.
