This is a great opportunity to take my game to the next level."

In The Community

The D-Fenders will be spending Valentine's Day with the children and families of the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House on Wednesday, February 14 from 1pm-3pm. The Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House serves as a "home-away-from-home" for families of children undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals for life-threatening illnesses. The Ronald McDonald House provides inexpensive, and often free, lodging for families who travel long distances while their children are hospitalized. The availability of the Ronald McDonald Houses alleviates the stress families would have to endure by sleeping at the hospital or incurring the additional expense of finding a local hotel. Additionally, these facilities provide families with the added comfort of being surrounded by those who understand and can relate to the ordeal of having an ill child.

Coming Up

The D-Fenders have one game at home this week before the All-Star Break. Los Angeles hosts the Tulsa 66ers at STAPLES Center, before the Lakers game, on Thursday, February 15 with a 3:30pm tip off. On center court during halftime, there will be a special presentation of our Heroes Among Us award for February to The T.Y.M.E. Foundation. The T.Y.M.E. Foundation is an organization based on the principle of "Teaching Young Men Excellence." Their goal is to assist inner city male youths in developing good judgment, self-esteem, integrity, and self-sufficiency as they matriculate from boys to young men.

Having a Lakers ticket for a STAPLES Center home game is also your ticket to a lower level seat for the D-Fenders. Lakers season ticket holders who attend a D-Fenders home game will receive a special gift, while supplies last, by visiting the Season Ticket Holder Booth on the main concourse at the Figueroa Street Entrance.

On July 31, 2006 the Los Angeles Lakers announced that they had become the first NBA franchise in history to own an NBA Development League team. The Los Angeles D-Fenders play their home games at STAPLES Center pre and post Lakers home games. The Lakers devoted fans were given the opportunity to name the NBA D-League team in an online naming contest.
