D-Fenders Topped by Warriors

Los Angeles (9-23) was led by Jamaal Franklin with 27 points, five rebounds and four assists. Josiah Turner scored a season-high 18 points, while handing out four assists. Jabari Brown (16 points), Andre Ingram (11 points), Eloy Vargas (10 points, five rebounds) and Vander Blue (10 points, six rebounds, five assists) all reached double digits for the D-Fenders.

The Warriors (19-11) were pace by Mychel Thompson (30 points, four assists) and Ognjen Kuzmic (22 points, 18 assists). Dominique Sutton (15 points, 10 rebounds), Anthony Vereen (12 points) and Aaron Craft (12 points, six rebounds, five assists) all scored in double figures for Santa Cruz.

The first quarter was all Los Angeles, who outscored the Warriors 27-22 behind nine points from Franklin. Kuzmic led Santa Cruz with eight points. The second quarter was back-and-forth, with the Warriors outscoring the D-Fenders 28-27. Franklin had 10 points on the quarter, while Craft paced Santa Cruz with eight. At the half, the D-Fenders led 54-40 behind 19 points from Franklin.

The third quarter was slow for Los Angeles, who tallied just 24 points compared to 32 for Santa Cruz. Thompson scored 16 points in the third quarter for the Warriors, while Ingram had eight for Los Angeles. The fourth quarter was all Warriors, who outscored the D-Fenders 31-20. Brown scored 10 points in the quarter for L.A., but it was too little too late as the D-Fenders fell 113-98.

Los Angeles shot .464, while Santa Cruz finished at .489. The Warriors outrebounded the D-Fenders 54-27 and also recorded more points in the paint (68-36), second chance points (29-13) and fastbreak points (28-20).

The D-Fenders head to Bakersfield, CA on February 17th to face the Jam at 7:00pm PT.
