Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League were able to control the tempo in this afternoon's match-up against the Arkansas RimRockers to win their fourth consecutive game on home hardwood at STAPLES Center 111-101.

The D-Fenders outscored Arkansas in the first three quarters and went on a 10-0 run in the final quarter to put the game away. Los Angeles outrebounded the RimRockers 42-39 and capitalized on the offensive end by outscoring Arkansas 20-14 on second chance points.

"We did a good job executing our offense although we turned the ball over too much, but we'll take the win," said D-Fenders Head Coach Dan Panaggio.

Los Angeles was led by forward Sean Banks who had 24 points on 10-13 shooting. Guard Jackie Manuel added 15 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

"I thought that we played well. The chemistry that we have right now is great. The only thing that we can do is get better and if we get better than this, I like our chances," said Banks.

Arkansas forwards Olu Famutimi and Roger Powell led the RimRockers in scoring. Famutimi had 28 points and Powell scored 22.

"I thought that our guys played as hard as they could. We were missing two of our key guards, but defensively we need to make some changes," said RimRockers Head Coach Andy Stoglin.

This was the final regular season meeting between the two teams, with the D-Fenders taking the series 3-0. Los Angeles now sits at 18-16 (.529).

Next week the D-Fenders host their Southern California rival the Anaheim Arsenal on Friday, March 2 at STAPLES Center, before the Lakers game, with a 3:30pm tip off.

Having a Lakers ticket for a STAPLES Center home game is also your ticket to a lower level seat for the D-Fenders. Lakers season ticket holders who attend a D-Fenders home game will receive a special gift, while supplies last, by visiting the Season Ticket Holder Booth on the main concourse at the Figueroa Street Entrance.

On July 31, 2006 the Los Angeles Lakers announced that they had become the first NBA franchise in history to own an NBA Development League team. The Los Angeles D-Fenders play their home games at STAPLES Center pre and post Lakers home games. The Lakers devoted fans were given the opportunity to name the NBA D-League team in an online naming contest.
