Colorado 14ers News Release

DENVER, Feb. 23 - The Albuquerque Thunderbirds ran their win streak to four games with a 116-100 win over the Colorado 14ers on Friday night. Albuquerque improves to 15-18 on the season with the win, while Colorado falls to 20-13 with the loss.

The Thunderbirds locked down the leagues highest scoring offense, holding Colorado to just 38 points in the first half. Albuquerque took a 14 point lead at the break, and built that up to as many as 25 points in the third quarter.

Cedric Bozeman was the Thunderbirds catalyst, scoring a team high 18 points and handing out nine assists in the win.

"He's a big point guard a la Magic Johnson," said Albuquerque coach Michael Cooper. "He's a fantastic passer, and he knows where things are at on the floor. He makes things easy as a consummate coach on the floor, and he does a great job for us."

Tony Bland and Joe Shipp added 17 points apiece, and Dijon Thompson scored 16 with nine rebounds for Albuquerque in the win. The victory is the third in four games for the Thunderbirds over the 14ers this season.

Colorado was led by Elton Brown's season-high 29 points in defeat. Pooh Jeter added 22 for the 14ers in the loss.

Colorado and Albuquerque meet at the Broomfield Event Center again Saturday night.
