D-Fenders Earn Wire-To-Wire Win over Stampede

BOISE, ID - The Los Angeles D-Fenders earned a 114-99 wire-to-wire victory over the Idaho Stampede tonight at CenturyLink Arena.

In the first quarter, the D-Fenders (5-7) held the Stampede (9-5) to only four points through the first six minutes, quickly building a 14-point advantage. Los Angeles' strong defensive play led to 12 Stampede turnovers in the quarter and a 13-point lead entering the second frame. The defensive prowess of the D-Fenders continued in the second period as they held Idaho to 23.1 percent from the field and 14 points in the quarter. In total, the D-Fenders held the Stampede to a first-half opponent season-low of 33 points. Additionally, the D-Fenders racked up nine steals and shot 43.8 percent from the field en route to a 28-point half-time edge.

The D-Fenders struggled to hold on to their large lead in the third quarter due to only converting on seven of their 23 field goal attempts and two of their seven three-point field goal attempts. The Stampede would close the gap in the final frame, but were never able to get the disadvantage under ten points. Los Angeles was able to keep the Stampede at bay, earning their fifth victory of the season and second straight wire-to-wire victory over Idaho.

Seven out of eight D-Fenders players who appeared in tonight's game finished in double-digits and two finished with double-doubles. The NBA D-League's second leading-scorer, Manny Harris, led the charge for Los Angeles with 30 points, including 14 of 14 from the free-throw line. Jamario Moon (18 points, 13 rebounds), C.J. Williams (18 points, eight rebounds), Josh Magette (12 points, nine assists, seven rebounds), Kareem Rush (12 points), James Southerland (10 points, 10 rebounds) and Andre Ingram (10 points) rounded out the double-digit scorers.

Idaho was paced by the NBA D-League's leading scorer, Pierre Jackson (30 points, eight assists), along with Dee Bost (22 points), Christian Kabongo (11 points, nine rebounds), and Reggie Hearn (11 points). Richard Howell also pitched in a double-double, scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Overall, both teams finished with an identical mark of 37 for 92 from the field, but the D-Fenders forced Idaho into 24 turnovers, which led to 30 points, compared to just 11 turnovers for Los Angeles. The D-Fenders have now won three out of their last four contests, including two out of three on their current four-game road-trip.

Los Angeles will conclude their four-game road trip against the Reno Bighorns on January 2nd, at 6:00pm, at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada.
