
D-Fenders Earn Sweep of Canton in Decisive Fashion

CANTON, OH - The Los Angeles D-Fenders (25-15) defeated the Canton Charge (25-18) 130-98 on Saturday night at Canton Memorial Civic Center.
In the first quarter, the D-Fenders struggled from the field, shooting just 30.8 percent from the field. Despite trailing by eight points late in the frame, Los Angeles bounced back with a 7-0 run to pull within one point entering the second period. The D-Fenders improved their shooting efficiency in the second quarter and used a 16-4 run to end the half to help them secure a 12-point halftime lead. In total, three players scored in double-digits and the D-Fenders shot 42.9 percent from the field in the first half.
The D-Fenders continued their dominant performance in the third quarter by getting to the free-throw line for 14 attempts, knocking down 13. Los Angeles sealed the victory in the final period by shooting 71.4 percent from the field and extending their lead to as many as 36 points. The victory marks the fifth in a row for the D-Fenders and the third in a row on the current five-game road trip.
Shawne Williams led the Los Angeles attack with an NBA D-League career high 34 points and seven rebounds. Also finishing in double-digits for the D-Fenders were James Southerland (26 points, eight rebounds), C.J. Williams (20 points), Josiah Turner (18 points) and Brandon Costner (13 points, nine rebounds).
The Charge were paced by William Buford and Remon Nelson who both totaled 15 points each off of the bench. In addition, Olek Czyz (14 points, 15 rebounds), Kyrylo Fesenko (12 points) and Antoine Agudio (10 points, six rebounds) finished in double-digits for Canton.
Overall, the D-Fenders held the edge in field goal percentage (51.1-39.8), three-point field goal percentage (40.0-22.2), free-throw percentage (85.7-64.3) and assists (31-20). Furthermore, the D-Fenders racked up 20 fast break points on the night.
Los Angeles continues their road trip Tuesday, March 18th, against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at 4:00pm, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
