Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League fell to the Bakersfield Jam this afternoon at STAPLES Center 103-92, extending their current losing streak to seven games.
Los Angeles shot a dismal 38% in the contest and trailed 51-40 at halftime. Bakersfield shot 51% for the game.
The Jam was led by guard Scooter McFadgon and center Patrick O'Bryant. McFadgon scored 30 points on 10-17 shooting from the field and 10-12 from the free-throw line. O'Bryant had 22 points and 11 rebounds.
"I thought that our defense was the key to the game today. When we defend we are a much better basketball team," said Bakersfield Head Coach Jim Harrick.
Los Angeles outscored Bakersfield 31-22 in the third quarter to pull the game close in the second half, but the Jam answered the attempted comeback by going on a 9-0 run in the final quarter.
"In the first half, our transition defense was bad. We did keep our turnover count down, but we shot poorly and lost," said D-Fenders Head Coach Dan Panaggio.
D-Fenders forward Sean Banks had 20 points and 5 assists. Center Wesley Wilson added 18 points and 4 blocks for Los Angeles.
This was the final regular season meeting between the two teams and the series has been left in a tie 3-3. The D-Fenders now sit at 19-24 (.442) with less than a month left of regular season play.
Los Angeles will host the Fort Worth Flyers on Tuesday, March 27 at STAPLES Center, before the Lakers game with a 3:30pm tip-off. This will be the final regular season meeting between the two teams, with Fort Worth leading the series 2-1.
