D-Fenders Clinch West With Three-Point Shooting And Defense

EL SEGUNDO, CA - The Los Angeles D-Fenders clinched the NBA Development League West Conference for the first time in franchise history after knocking down a team-record 17 three-pointers in a 117-89 victory over the Reno Bighorns on Wednesday night at Toyota Sports Center.

The 17-of-28 three-pointers made by Los Angeles (34-11), including 12 in the second-half, supplanted the previous franchise mark of 15 set in 2007-08 (at Idaho, 2/9/08), and helped secure their 17th win 18 games.

What's more, the D-Fenders, who entered as the league-leader in defensive field goal percentage, limited the Bighorns to a 36.6 percent shooting clip, marking the 11th time this season that they held an opponent at or below 40 percent from the field.

Jamario Moon led the scoring attack for the Los Angeles after he totaled 26 points (10-18 FG, 6-7 3FG) and 10 rebounds. Additionally, Christian Eyenga posted 21 points (9-16 FG), seven rebounds and three blocks, newly-acquired Andre Ingram tallied 17 points, four rebounds and five assists, and Otis George scored 14 points to go with six rebounds in the win.

Meanwhile, Reno (19-26) finished the night with three players scoring in double-figures, led by Eric Devendorf and Josh Selby who scored 18 points apiece. In addition, David Harrison contributed 12 points (5-7 FG) and 10 rebounds in the loss.

In a game in which Los Angeles never trailed and led by as many as 36 points, Los Angeles shot 51.8 percent and tied a season-high with a combined 34 assists handed out as a team. With the victory, the D-Fenders, who were the first team to clinch a playoff berth this season, improves to 6-1 versus Reno this season and 9-8 all-time.

The D-Fenders next return to the hardwood to face the Bakersfield Jam on Friday, March 30th at 7 p.m. before returning home to play the Jam on Saturday night. Both games are available for viewing online through NBA Futurecast.
