D.C. United to face Kickers at UR Stadium June 19

RICHMOND, VA - (Thursday, March 22, 2007) - The USL Second Division Champion Richmond Kickers are pleased to host D.C. United of Major League Soccer (MLS) in an exhibition match on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the University of Richmond Stadium (just off the Downtown Expressway). General admission tickets are $15/person and can be ordered in advance via www.RichmondKickers.com.

"We look forward to hosting DC United and testing ourselves against top class opposition," comments Richmond Kickers Head Coach Leigh Cowlishaw. "It is always a great occasion for our community to watch the best club in MLS right here in Richmond."

As a charter member of MLS, four-time MLS Cup Champion (1996, 1997, 1999 and 2004) D.C. United enters its 12th season of play. This year's exhibition will mark the eighth meeting between the two clubs with United leading the series 3-2-1. United made their last appearance in Richmond last season for a short-lived exhibition match, during which continuous inclement weather forced the game to be suspended in the 20th minute and ultimately terminated after a one-hour delay due to lightning. Previously, D.C. United traveled to Richmond during the U.S. Open Cup, coming away with a 3-1 victory in 2005 in the Fourth Round, one year after the Kickers ousted the Black-and-Red, 2-1, in the Third Round of the 2004 tournament.

"We are pleased to once again return to Richmond," said United Technical Director Dave Kasper. "We always enjoy playing against the Kickers and we look forward to a great evening of soccer."

Season tickets, Pro Passes and Coach's Passes will not be accepted at the DC United exhibition match. Normal discounts do not apply.
