
D.C. United Sign University of Wisconsin Goalkeeper Nathan Crockford

WASHINGTON, D.C. - D.C. Unitedhave signed University of Wisconsin goalkeeper Nathan Crockford. Crockford was selected by the Black-and-Red in the third round of the 2024 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas on Dec. 19, 2023. D.C. United have signed the goalkeeper to a one-year deal with options in 2025, 2026, and 2027.
"We are signing a talented young goalkeeper in Nathan [Crockford] and he's coming off a good season with the University of Wisconsin," Ally Mackay, D.C. United General Manager and Chief Soccer Officer, said. "He has the qualities to be a successful goalkeeper in this league and he will be a great addition to our core goalkeeping group. We are excited to welcome him to the Nation's capital."
The Illinois native spent two seasons at the University of California Los Angeles from 2021 to 2022 where he appeared in 23 matches, recording 87 saves. Crockford led the Pac-12 in 2022 with 63 saves, a .768 save percentage, and eight shutouts on his way to being an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. Crockford then transferred to the University of Wisconsin in 2023 where he made 17 appearances (17 starts), playing all 1,530 minutes in net for the Badgers, and recording 43 saves.
