Washington, D.C. (January 18, 2007) - D.C. United today selected two players in the 2007 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft, held via teleconference. The Black-and-Red picked goalkeeper Shawn Crowe and forward Guy-Roland Kpene in the four-round event. The full team will report for the beginning of pre-season training in DC at the end of January, in preparation for the upcoming CONCACAF Champions' Cup and the 2007 MLS season.

With the 11th overall pick, United selected Florida International goalkeeper Shawn Crowe. The Aurora, Colorado native was a three-year starter for the Panthers between the posts and was also a teammate of Bobby Boswell for three seasons (2002-2004). The six-foot, three-inch Crowe played in 12 games for FIU in 2006, allowing only 12 goals and earning two clean sheets. For his career, Crowe played in 49 games for Florida International.

Taken in the third round (37th overall), Guy-Roland Kpene joins D.C. from Dowling College where he helped the Golden Lions to the 2006 Division II National Championship. A native of Abidjan, Ivory Cost, Kpene was named as a 2006 NSCAA All-American (second team) after he notched 25 goals and 10 assists. He ranked fifth nationally last season in points scored per game and totaled seven game-winning goals.
