
Cyclones Win On An 8th Inning Rally

Brooklyn, NY - The Brooklyn Cyclones (24-24) defeated the Connecticut Tigers (21-28) by a score of 4-3 Wednesday afternoon at MCU Park. The Cyclones rallied in the eighth inning with two runs to give them their first lead of the game. The eighth inning was highlighted by C Tomas Nido's (2-3) RBI single that scored RF James Roche (1-4 )to give the Cyclones the lead at 4-3.
The moral of the story the Tigers offense continued to struggle with runners on base as they went 2-10 as a team and left a total of nine batters stranded. 2B Dominic Ficociello (2-3) continued his recent hot streak as he picked up a pair of doubles and two RBI's.
The Cyclones relief pitching was a major factor in defeating the Tigers Wednesday afternoon as they used three pitchers to that combined for four innings pitched while allowing one run on two hits. LHP David Wynn pitched 2.2 innings while allowing one unearned run on one hit. LHP Paul Paez (2-1) picked up the win having pitched to one batter, LF Tyler Gibson (0-4) and got him to ground out to end the eighth inning for the Tigers. LHP John Mincone (6) picked up his sixth save of the season pitching a scoreless ninth.
The Tigers and Cyclones wrap up their three-game series tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. at MCU Park. Tigers send out LHP Alex Phillps (2-1, 2.87) in the series finale.
