Twin City Cyclones News Release
The Pee Dee Cyclones return to the Florence Civic Center on Tuesday Night @ 7:35PM for the second game of a home & home match-up against the first place Knoxville Ice Bears. The Cyclones played a tough three game weekend, defeating Columbus on Friday night by a score of 6-5 and losing to both Fayetteville and to Knoxville on Saturday & Sunday. Tuesday night's home game is the last one for the Cyclones until February 10th. Following Tuesday's game, the âClones head on the road to Kissimmee, Florida to play the Florida Seals on Thursday & Friday as they begin a five game road trip.
Pee Dee begins the week still in sixth place, seven points behind fifth place Huntsville. The âClones season record is 11 wins-18 losses-3 overtime losses.
Upcoming games & promotions:
Tuesday, January 17th vs. Knoxville Ice Bears (7:35PM / At Florence Civic Center). Seventh meeting of the year against the first place Ice Bears. Knoxville leads the season series 6-1 with the Cyclones only win coming in Florence back on November 18th, a 6-5 victory. The Ice Bears are 21-8-4 on the year and have won eight in a row.
Thursday, January 19th @ Florida Seals (Kissimmee, Florida) (7:30PM) AND Friday, January 20th @ Florida Seals (7:30PM). Only the fourth & fifth meetings of the year against the Seals with the Cyclones leading the season series 2-1. Cyclones Player Notes:
Forward Edan Welch continues to lead the team in scoring with 23 goals-19 assists-42 points. Welch's 23 goals also lead the team. Forward Trevor Karasiewicz leads the team in assists with 22. Forward Chris Murphy leads the Cyclones with 149 penalty minutes in 31 games. Murphy scored his first goal of the season this past weekend. Newcomer Darrell Upton has five points (2 goals-3 assists) in his first three games and Justin Siebold has four points (2 goals-2 assists) in his first three games.
Cyclones Appearances: Join Cyclones Head Coach Mark Richards and selected players every Tuesday night at 7:30PM at the Phoenix Bar & Grill in the Thunderbird Hotel on Highway 52 and I-95 for the Cyclones Radio Show on 100.1 FM "The Fan" as a part of the weekly "Press Box PM" radio program with host Emerson "E-Daddy" Phillips. Because of Tuesday's Home Game, there won't be a Cyclones Segment this week.
