The Pee Dee Cyclones begin the month of February with just one game this week. After a week of practice away from the Florence Civic Center (due to arena preparations for the Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Bailey Circus this weekend), the Cyclones will only play at Huntsville on Saturday night (February 4th). Pee Dee will be looking to improve upon their disappointing January record where the âClones posted a 2-6-1 record for the month. Pee Dee remains in sixth place in the SPHL with an overall record of 12-20-4.
Upcoming games & promotions:
Saturday, February 4th @ Huntsville Havoc (8:35PM Eastern @ Von Braun Civic Center). It is the fifth meeting of the year against the Havoc with Pee Dee leading the season series 3 games to 1. Follow the action on www.pointstreak.com
*Cyclones next home games @ Florence Civic Center are Friday, February 10th (7:35 pm against Huntsville Havoc) and Saturday, February 11th (7:35PM against Fayetteville Fire Antz). Friday, February 10th is "NASCAR Night" sponsored by the Darlington Race Track. The evening will feature the return of the annual "Weiner Dog Races" and our "Chuck a Puck" winner will win tickets to the Darlington Race in May. Saturday, February 11th is "Health Awareness Night" at the Florence Civic Center.
Cyclones New Ticket Prices Begin This Month Beginning with the Cyclones home games on Friday, February 10th and Saturday, February 11th the team will introduce some new, lower ticket prices for the remainder of the 2005-06 hockey season: - A new $7.00 General Admission ticket available for all Friday & Saturday home games. - A new $5.00 General Admission ticket available for all Tuesday & Thursday home games. - A $5.00 Student or Military ticket for all homes games by showing the appropriate ID. - Children 3 & under will be admitted FREE (as long as they can sit on their parent's lap).
Cyclones New Ownership attended SPHL Meetings The Pee Dee Cyclones new principal owner, Mr. Bob Kerzner, represented the Cyclones at the SPHL Winter Meetings in Jacksonville this past weekend. Among the topics discussed was the SPHL Playoff Format. The format for this season remains as follows: Round 1: (Quarterfinals) (Teams 1 through 6 are decided based on regular season standings) Series A: Team #1 vs. Team #6 (best of 5) Series B: Team #2 vs. Team #5 (best of 3) Series C: Team #3 vs. Team #4 (best of 3)
Round #2: (Semi-finals) Winner of Series A gets a bye to Championship Series Series D: Winner of Series B plays winner of Series C (best of 3)
Championship Series Series E: Winner of Series A plays winner of Series D (best of 5)
Cyclones Player Notes:
Goaltender Kevin Schieve has been recalled to Wheeling of the ECHL. Schieve (She-vee) was named SPHL Sher-wood Hockey Player of the Week on January 25th. Head Coach Mark Richards expects to sign a new net minder in time for this weekend's game in Huntsville.
Goaltender Bryan Worosz was recalled to Toledo of the ECHL on January 26th. Worosz was replaced on the roster by Nick Rua who dressed earlier this season with Johnstown in the ECHL. The native of Uniontown, PA played college hockey at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
Forward Rob Kapuscinski was resigned to a five game tryout on January 26th.
Forward Justin Siebold has been suspended for three games (beginning with this Saturday's game in Huntsville) as a result of his actions in last Friday's game (February 27th) in Fayetteville.
Cyclones Appearances: Join Cyclones Head Coach Mark Richards, new Owner Bob Kerzner, and selected players every Tuesday night at 7:30PM at the Phoenix Bar & Grill in the Thunderbird Hotel on Highway 52 and I-95 for the Cyclones Radio Show on 100.1 FM "The Fan" as a part of the weekly "Press Box PM" radio program with host Emerson "E-Daddy" Phillips.
Cyclones Practice Schedule: The Cyclones practice most days at the Florence Civic Center except when the team is on the road. Call the Cyclones at 843-432-1234 for additional information.
