Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
The Aberdeen IronBirds (22-23) lost Game 3 and their series to Brooklyn (27-16) on Tuesday night. Trailing 8-5 with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, Aberdeen's CJ Smith struck out on a full count to end the game. The 'Birds finish their 8 game homestand 3-5.
Starter Bryce Chamberlin took the loss after going 1 1/3 innings and allowing 2 earned runs on a hit and 3 walks. He drops to 1-5 on the year.
Quincy Ascencion finished 3-3 with a solo homer and 2 walks. Morgan Clendenin added an RBI triple and would later score. Smith was 3-4 before he struck out to end the game, including a mammoth home run to left that cleared the visitor's clubhouse and a double. Arturo Rivas had a single and scored a run. Ron Braun picked up a pinch single and scored a run, as well.
Aberdeen falls to 3.5 games out of the Wild Card and 6 behind Brooklyn after their loss and Hudson Valley's win. The IronBirds will now go to Batavia for 3 games against the Muckdogs. They then return home on Saturday for 3 with Vermont.
