Brooklyn Cyclones News Release

The Brooklyn Cyclones beat their rivals from Staten Island 1-0 on Monday night in front of 8,392 fans at KeySpan Park. The Cyclones' victory increased their division lead over the Yankees to four games. Brooklyn got on base early in the 1st inning after Micah Schilling was hit by a pitch and Jason Jacobs walked. With two outs, J.R. Voyles singled home Schilling to put the Cyclones on top 1-0.

Voyles' hit was all the offense the Cyclones needed as Brooklyn starter Dylan Owen was superb, throwing six shutout innings, allowing only three hits over that span. Owen also had five strikeouts on the night to increase his season total to 53. Owen's victory, his seventh of the year, is a NY-Penn League best. The Yankees did mount a small rally in the top of the 5th, but with men on first and third Will Vogl made a nice running grab at the right field wall to end the inning and keep the Yankees off the board.

Stephen Clyne followed up Owen's performance with two shutout innings of his own, while fanning three Yankees, and closer Eddie Kunz recorded the save for the Cyclones after a perfect inning in the 9th.

The Cyclones drew the franchise's two millionth fan on Monday, reaching the mark faster than any team in Short-Season history. The team has drawn 224,680 this season.

After the series finale in Staten Island tomorrow, the Cyclones return home Wednesday night to host the Oneonta Tigers in a battle of division leaders. Wednesday will be Military Night at KeySpan Park and first 2,000 adults 21 and over will receive a beer glass courtesy of Miller Brewing Company.
