NORWICH, CT - Frank Valentino allowed just one run over 4.2 innings, but he took the hard-luck loss as the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Short-Season Class A affiliate of the New York Mets, fell 1-0 to the Connecticut Tigers in a five-inning, rain-shortened game at Dodd Stadium on Thursday night.

W: Jimenez (3-1)

L: Valentino (1-4)

SV: Anderson (3)

BIG MOMENTS

As the sixth inning began, a drizzle turned into a downpour in Norwich. After Jake Ortega grounded out to start the frame, the game was halted at 6:33 p.m. Despite the fact that the rain stopped within a half-hour, the field was deemed unplayable, and the game was called.

Connecticut's Jordan Verdon snuck a two-out double down the right-field line to score Nick Quintana from first and give the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth.

Joe Genord lined a single into right-center field with two outs in the top of the fourth for Brooklyn's only hit of the night.

Brooklyn skipper Edgardo Alfonzo remains one win away from 100 career wins with the Cyclones.

The Brooklyn bats produced a season-low one hit.
