
Cyclones Add Forward Alex Penner to 2012-13 Roster

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that forward Alex Penner has agreed to terms with the club for the 2012-13 season.
Penner, a Simcoe, Ontario native, will enter his sixth professional season this fall. A season ago, he played for the Colorado Eagles where he led the team and finished third in the ECHL with 239 penalty minutes. In 2010-11 he split time between the Nottingham Panthers of the EIHL and Colorado, accumulating 371 penalty minutes in 46 total games. The six-foot-four, 240 pound forward logged 222 minutes in the sin bin while adding 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) for the Eagles during the 2009-10 campaign. Penner's first ECHL stint came in 2008-09 when saw ice time in 38 games with the Johnstown Chiefs while also skating in eight contests for the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL). His first professional season came with the Laredo Bucks of the CHL where he racked up 186 penalty minutes in 53 games in 2007-08. Prior to going pro, Penner played two years in the OHL and one in the MJAHL.
"Alex is not only a fierce competitor but a great teammate as well," said Cyclones Head Coach Jarrod Skalde. "He is going to bring a physical edge to our group and we're excited to have him."

On Saturday, October 13, the Cyclones will host the second-annual Power Play 5K Run/Walk followed by the 2012 First Face-Off against the Wheeling Nailers at U.S. Bank Arena.
