DENVER - The Denver Cutthroats picked up a point in an eight-round, marathon shootout last week and now prepare themselves for their final trip out west to visit the Arizona Sundogs for a pair of weekend games.

Last week's record: 0-1-1

Overall record: 18-12-4, T-3rd in the Central Hockey League

January 4 at Quad City Mallards, 5-3 Loss

AJ Gale and Troy Schwab each tallied a goal and an assist, but the Mallards scored three straight goals in the second period to erase a 3-2 lead for the Cutthroats en route the 5-3 final score.

January 5 at Missouri Mavericks, 2-1 (SO) Overtime Loss

Mike Towns tied the game midway through the third and both teams would need an eight-round shootout to decide the winner - with Missouri winning 4-3. Kent Patterson stopped a career-high 39 shots in the losing effort for the Cutthroats.

The Cutthroats make their final trip to the desert to face the Sundogs in a pair of weekend games. Denver is 4-3-1 against the Sundogs this season, but only 1-3-0 in Prescott Valley. AJ Gale has seven goals in eight games this season against Arizona. Denver goaltender Kieran Millan has returned to the team after a call-up to the American Hockey League's Lake Erie Monsters. After this week the Cutthroats and Sundogs will meet one final time on February 5 at the Denver Coliseum to close out the season series.
