January 7, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

Three Things You Need to Know

1.) Half a Dozen- The Allen Americans are on their second six-game win streak of the season and will look to tie the Missouri Mavericks for the longest win streak in the CHL this season (7) on Tuesday night when they play in Fort Worth against the Brahmas. The most recent win on the streak came in dramatic fashion on Saturday night against Rapid City when the Americans scored three times in the third period to win 5-4. The come-from-behind win is the fourth time in six games this season Allen has trailed heading into the third period and still come out victorious. It has been a month since the Americans last lost a regulation game (Dec. 7 vs. Denver) going 10-0-1 in their last 11 games. Allen leads the Berry Conference by five points over Wichita with four games in hand.

2.) Making Noise in the AHL- Several CHL players are currently on call-ups with the American Hockey League with Denver currently seeing four players dressing in Cleveland with the Lake Erie Monsters. Dean Strong has been the most productive so far with a goal and five assists in 16 games. Jamie MacQueen has two goals and one assist in 10 games, Ben Wilson has an assist in five games and Gabriel Beaupre has not scored in six games. Allen's Tyler Ludwig is currently up with the Houston Aeros and Scotty Howes is with the Springfield Falcons. Wichita's Erick Lizon is playing with the Oklahoma City Barons recording 14 penalty minutes in five games.

3.) Milestones Reached- A pair of CHL veterans reached historic milestones this past weekend with Missouri's Sebastien Thinel playing in his 600th CHL game on Saturday night and Allen's Jason Deitsch who played in his 500th professional game on Friday. Thinel becomes just the ninth player in CHL history to reach the 600-game plateau. Deitsch's 500th game was a memorable one as he scored a shorthanded goal in the third period of his team's 6-2 win over Tulsa. The SHG came with the Americans down two skaters.

By the Numbers

290: The number of goals that Fort Worth's Chad Woollard has scored in his CHL career tying him with Don Parsons for sixth on the league's all-time goal scoring list. Woollard had a pair of goals on Saturday night in the Brahmas 6-3 win over Tulsa. On the season, the veteran has nine goals and six assists in 24 games played. The Durham, Ontario native can climb to number five on the list with four more goals (Luc Beausoleil, 294 goals). Another active player, Rapid City's Scott Wray, is just behind Woollard sitting with 286 goals in his CHL career (eighth on the all-time goal scoring list).

One-Timers

-Arizona forward Chad Nehring has been scoring goals in bunches recently striking 10 times in his last eight games and moving into a tie for second in the league with 20 goals on the season. Last week, Nehring had six goals and three assists in three games earning him the Oakley CHL Player of the Week award. Nehring, along with teammate Jason Morgan, has the longest active point streak in the league at eight games.

-With wins this weekend over Rapid City and Tulsa, the Fort Worth Brahmas are now 5-0 in games played in the Fort Worth Convention Center. The Brahmas have outscored their opposition 21-6 in the five games at the FWCC and overall have the best home record in the league at 13-2-4.

-Bloomington's Jon Booras has 10 goals and nine assists in his last 12 games and on the season is second in the league with 46 points (17-29F). The veteran is just seven points shy of his points total from last season which led his team in scoring (53 points).

-Despite allowing four goals in Saturday's 5-4 win over Rapid City, Allen's Aaron Dell continued his point streak extending it to eight games (7-0-1). Dell leads the league with a 1.95 GAA and his last regulation loss was December 1 versus Arizona.

-Rapid City's Jesse Schultz had just one goal in his first 10 games since signing with Rapid City in mid-December but on Saturday in Allen, the veteran had a hat trick in the game's first 24 minutes. Schultz has four goals and five assists in 11 games played this season.

-The Oilers were outscored 12-5 this past weekend in their road games in Fort Worth and Allen dropping both contests. Their road winless streak now stretches to 12 games, the longest of any team in the CHL this season. The last Tulsa road win came on November 10 in Fort Worth.

-Rush/Americans trade sending Nino Musitelli to Rapid City in exchange for Alex Penner. Musitelli had 13 goals and 13 assists in the 2010 CHL Finals when Allen lost to Rapid City. Penner has accumulated 579 PIM's in 149 career CHL games.
