Denver - The Denver Cutthroats and St. Charles Chill faced each other for the final night in the 2013-14 season series on Saturday, February 15 at the Denver Coliseum. The Cutthroats swept the Chill with a 4-2 victory and moved to second in the Central Hockey League standings.
Denver Cutthroats Aaron MacKenzie (Garett Bembridge, Daniel Barczuk) scored the opening goal of the night one minute into the first period. Troy Schwab (Vincent Arseneau, Kyle Fletcher) lit up the red light to give Denver a 2-0 lead over St. Charles. Ryan Berard (Justin Levac, Steve Anthony) shot the puck over Cutthroats netminder Kent Patterson's shoulder for the Chill's first goal of the weekend series.
After a scoreless second period, St. Charles Chill's Kyle O'Kane (Martin Hlinka, Nicklas Lindberg) tied the score at two. Steve Kaunisto (Lee Moffie, Bembridge) reclaimed the Denver Cutthroats lead 3-2 with a shot from above the circles. With his second goal of the night, Troy Schwab (Bembridge) sealed the Cutthroats victory 4-2 over the Chill. Saturday night's victory moved the Denver Cutthroats to second in the Central Hockey League standings with 58 points and a 24-13-10 record.
