
Missouri Big 3rd Period Leads to 5-2 Win over Allen

Independence, MO - Allen headed out on the road to complete their four games in five night set with the first stop in Missouri before heading to Denver on Monday afternoon. Saturday night's contest was a rematch against the Mavericks who defeated the Americans 5-2.
Missouri opened the scoring on a power play goal by Trevor Kell, assisted by Eric Castonguay and Andrew Courtney at 8:56 of the first period. Allen tied the game with 56 seconds remaining in the frame on a goal by Garret Klotz, his 5th goal of the season, with assists from Ben Power and Jamie Schaafsma. Missouri earned a slight edge in shots on net at 13-12 at the first intermission but the game stayed level at 1-1.
The Americans took the 2-1 lead on Alex Lavoie's 24th goal of the year at 9:31 of the second period, Jonathon Zion and Kale Kerbashian were credited with the helpers. Allen took the lead in shots in the second period, outshooting the Mavericks 14-9 totaling 26-22 through two periods, while holding the 2-1 lead on the scoreboard.
The Missouri Mavericks brought the game level on Trevor Kell's second goal of the night at 4:27 of the third period, assisted by Colten Hayes and John-Scott Dickson. Then Mike Ramsay scored on the power play to give Missouri back the lead 3-2, assists going to Matt Stephenson and Sebastian Thinel at 10:55 . Then Mike Ramsay scored again on the power play less than five minutes later to extend the Mavericks lead to 4-2, assisted by Sebastian Thinel and Eric Castonguay. Then Anders Franzon scored on an empty net at the 17:14 mark, with assists going to Mike Ramsay and Jeff Buvinow. Missouri outshot the Americans in the third period 15-4 for a three period total in their favor 37-30 and holding on to earn the 5-2 victory.
Allen heads to Denver to face off against the Cutthroats Monday afternoon with the puck drop scheduled for 5:05PM CST.
